Sound level and selection of air-cooled capacitors for residential and urban facilities

The noise generated by FNH, FNV and FNVT condensers is becoming more and more important in refrigeration projects, especially when the equipment is located near homes, offices or urban areas with noise restrictions.

The noise of the capacitor mainly comes from the fan: the movement of the blade produces aerodynamic noise, while the poor bearing produces vibration noise. Under laboratory conditions, the catalog value is measured in dB(A) with a distance of 1 meter. In reality, obstacles such as walls and buildings can reflect noise and increase the sound perception nearby.

The sound level of standard FNH model is between 58-63 dB(A). The low-speed version can reduce the noise to 51-55 dB(A) and slightly reduce the cooling capacity by 6%-9%. This kind of loss must be considered in the scale stage of the project.

The FNVT capacitor with top discharge has acoustic advantages: it blows hot air upward, so the main noise points to the height and reduces the acoustic radiation to the faç ades and windows of adjacent buildings. In a compact urban environment, it is a very valuable choice, not a side-emission FNH.

FNV condenser has a larger heat exchange surface area, allowing the fan to run at a lower speed under the same cooling power, thus achieving a better balance between performance and noise level.

According to the technical data of xindacool, many installations make the mistake of selecting standard equipment and adding acoustic screens. Acoustic screen can reduce noise, but it will also hinder airflow, which will lead to up to 22% recycling and capacity loss if the calculation is incorrect. It is best to choose a low-speed fan from the beginning.

In addition to the choice of equipment, the fixed shape has a great influence on the noise of vibration transmission. Anti-vibration brackets must be used under the condenser base. Without these elements, vibration will be transmitted through walls and structures, amplifying the noise inside the building.

Please note that the noise also depends on the business hours. In residential areas, many local regulations require stricter restrictions at night. If the thermal load permits, the control system can reduce the fan speed at night.

The indoor air coolers DL,DD or DJ hardly make noise; Almost all noise problems in urban facilities come from external capacitors.

FAQ
Where does the main noise of the capacitor come from? Mainly from fans: aerodynamic noise and bearing vibration.
What are the acoustic advantages of FNVT capacitors? It exhausts air upwards, guides noise to high places and reduces the impact on the nearby facade.
Is it inconvenient to add an acoustic screen without calculation? They can produce air recirculation and lose up to 22% refrigeration capacity.
What's the use of anti-vibration support? They avoid transmitting the vibration of equipment to the building structure, thus reducing the secondary noise.
Will DL, DD and DJ coolers produce annoying external noise? Almost none. External sound sources are almost always capacitors.

Key words: noise level capacitor, FNH capacitor, FNV capacitor, FNVT capacitor, DL series air cooler, DD series air cooler, DJ series air cooler, industrial noise, anti-vibration bracket, urban installation.
